From a local collection, an unusual 19th century chest with a bold inscription on the backside , “J M Kain Boston”. The brass bound corners and inscription indicates that travel was part of the owner’s life. The wood appears to be aromatic cedar and has a lively grain figure under an old finish. Minor imperfections. Of course, more images on request.

This could be perfect as a coffee table in a casual room or at the foot a the bed.
