English inlaid Hepplewhite George III sideboard circa 1785

Small English inlaid Hepplewhite George III sideboard circa 1785+. You could love this piece for its size alone. However, thorough design and embellishment are what makes it a masterpiece. The exciting flame grain and banded top overhangs a conforming bow front case. The doors are banded crotch grained mahogany with an oval surrounds within fan spandrels. The so-called bridge at center displays two large fan spandrels below a banded drawer. The legs each hold inlaid patera decorated with lilies of the valley. Below, slender tapered Hepplewhite legs are inlaid and terminate in spade feet. Later, correct style ring brasses. Restored.

Concise enough to fit into a small dining room or a hallway. This could also be used as a secondary sideboard in a large dining room.

Height 36 inches depth 24 inches, links 42 inches.

A masterpiece at $3850.
