My latest acquisition, a French Walnut Panettiere, or bread cupboard, of the late 1700s or early 1800s. This was a favorite in the period as a wall hanging cupboard and could be used today in your kitchen or casual room for books and other convenient storage.
Constructed of a well figured walnut, turned finials are above a shaped crest with floral, tendril, and wheat carving over the facade. The central door is mounted with a steel escutcheon having lyre designs and mounted with a bold barrel steel hinge. Well-turned spindles are above a shaped apron supported by Louis XV cabriole legs. This is in great condition and ready to hang above your table or cabinets. You won’t find another easily. Call or email for pricing and more images.
The detailed photo of the French walnut panettiere shows a wheat carved curving door to point to its use as a bread cupboard.
