Currently the star of our French collection featuring pieces from the 1700s through the early 1800s, this Louis XV provincial walnut or fruitwood desk is a bold example of its type with a strong cove molded cornice above arched paneled doors. The separate slant front desk arrangement below has a paneled lid which opens to reveal pigeonholes above serpentine front small drawers. The writing surface is in old worn green leather with a gilt embossed rim. Below, again featuring paneled doors the case contains beautifully grained fruitwood, above a serpentine apron, flanked by the cabriole legs of the Louis XV period.
