A French bureau de dame, 18th or early 19th century. An elegant and spirited example with a great central floral inlay over herringbone veneers with crossbanding. The drawers repeat the pattern above a scalloped apron. All rests on tall cabriole legs of the Louis XV type. This stylish desk would be a cause for comment in your study or bedroom. Note: some shadows are cast across the surface in the picture.
Above, deep flanking drawers center on a concealed well with a sliding cover. The writing surface is a proper old burgundy velvet.
