From a local estate collection, this fanciful painted English bookcase cupboard dates in the early 1800s. Rosewood graining overall in red and black is highlighted by gilt tracery set in panels. The interior is done in a soft green below. A single cabinet door is made to imitate a linen-fold panel behind glass. The crest is shaped and highlighted with a gilt anthemion, while the sides continue c-scroll designs. The base is done with a tall bracket foot. No major repairs. Original paint with normal chips and wear. Excellent small size.
