English Regency drum table, also known as a rent table, early 1800’s. Of course the form is of a “drum”, but the drawer arrangement, which rotates above the base, allows quick movement among drawers for various accounts. On some of these, the drawers have labels with the alphabet to denote renter files.
A favorite form of mine, this splendid example is unusual with satinwood rimming the mahogany drawers and inlaid at the base. Also, black painted bosses at each saber leg support four turned columns. Ready to enjoy and display with a green leather top with gilt embossing. Brass pulls and paw feet highlight this gem.
