Our search continues for beautiful examples of early forms. English Hepplewhite sideboards as the one shown below, have always been one of the foundations of the classic dining room. Although intended for silver in many shapes and sizes, you might consider this for a large hallway as console flanked by a handsome pair of period side chairs. The bowfront top has a banded rim above a conforming case with contrasting banding on all drawer fronts. Line inlays detail the legs while spade feet terminate the slender square legs. There is not another of this quality and style near my price.
