A charming cherry New England tall case clock by Abell Stowell, circa 1800-20. He had his clock shops in Worcester, Massachusetts and Boston.
This gem is in a soft, deep old finish which is most desired. It is highlighted by the old brass hardware in a bronze tone. The hand painted steel face has a polychrome floral crest with gilt spandrels surrounding the dial. This is an eight day brass works. The bell strikes on the hour (optional). The display includes a seconds dial and date dial as well. Brass finials sit on plinths bounding pierced fretwork on top of the hood. The central door has a shaped crest.
Found here in running order and recently checked by my clock expert, this tall case clock with add elegance to your front hall as well as watching the hours.
