Bowfront Chest

This fanciful bowfront chest for riding gear, from the late 1700s or early 1800s is leather bound with two painted scenes from the English country life in oil on leather. The painting is done by a country artist in a whimsical manner.  The surface has been professionally restored and revarnished. The separate stand below conforms to the bowfront chest and has tapered square legs below a mahogany rim with a gadrooned border. On the lid, hunters and their dogs pursue the fox, as one rider falls. A hay barn is to the right. Below, four riders enjoy an autumn landscape.
This is an opportunity to have what may be unique and certainly is of exceptional charm.
