Complete the elegant setting of your fireplace by using American jamb hooks, circa 1800-30, to each side of the fireplace opening. Just lean or hang your brass fire tongs and shovel to each side in the the arms of the jamb hook.
Of solid cast brass, each has a backing plate with an arched top and apron. The arms with turned stems form large c-scrolls, mounted at ends with Federal style urn finials. These are now in a bronze toned color but will take a high polish if you like. It is rarer yet to find a left and right pair as these. Do not hesitate, you will look long to find another such pair.
