American Federal over mantle mirror, circa 1820+. Gilt is applied over a turned and carved frame with gesso ornaments of leafage. In bold architectural form, the cornice is decorated with draping leaves. Original gilt with some lesser restoration. Later old glass. This would be an impressive addition to your federal rooms.
