Perhaps New York, this carefully styled and built sideboard features a banded backsplash behind an overhang top, on a case with three drawers for silver flatware, and four doors concealing storage for hollowware. At the lower right, behind the cupboard door is a sliding drawer compartmentalized for liquor bottles. The well chosen flame grained mahogany veneers are cut and applied to form Gothic arches on the door fronts. The center section is bowed to relieve the broad façade. Herringbone veneers are applied to the stiles above slender turned and reeded legs. Later Hepplewhite oval brasses. No major repairs. Beautiful American workmanship is well displayed here.
