Neoclassical gilt mache tazzas, c. 1810-30

 

Neoclassical gilt mache tazzas (royal palais cartonnage) or compotes, circa 1800-30, hold fruit or sweatmeats on the dining table. Of heavy carton weight paper, they have extensive fine molded gesso details and sectioned areas. These have mirrored bases as well as white porcelain putti as supports. H. 13″, d. 9″.
