Louis XVI bergere, 18th century

 

Louis XVI bergere made in the 18th century of walnut in a most graceful curvaceous design with a molded rim having a rose carved at the arch. The tapered and turned legs are further carved with stop fluting or so called “engaged fluting” below rosettes flanking a  carved apron. The beautiful older covering is silk damask in a soft yellow with embroidered floral details. This is a comfortable chair with great history.  H.41″, w. 26″, d. 28.5″. $1350.
