Boats by R. P. Bonington (1801-1828)

Dutch fishing boats here have been attributed to R. P. Bonington (1801-1828), and later, the school of Garneray (1783-1857). Our work is initialed RPB on the dock stringers. Let me set aside these attributions and offer this beauty with a price that will surely tempt you.
This well-painted oil on board shows the talent of an academically trained painter who had an affinity for the sea and boats. Composition, colors, and detail all contribute to this successful view. Minute details include the lines on the fishing nets, reflected boats in the water, and figures at work.
H. 20″, w. 24″.┬á Some retouches to background. Later fine frame.
