Antique Tabriz Carpet

Antique Tabriz carpet in what is called “palace size”, measuring 18′ 4″ by 12′ 3″, from the late 19th or early 20th century. Overall with rather even pile having some abrash of color from the tans at one end gradually to more rose in the ground at the other end. Abrash is a side effect of the use of hand-spun wool and vegetable dyes in the rug making process. The overlapping central medallions use ivory, brown, rose, and black as field colors with floral and tendril details.  Borders repeat the intricate floral theme. Minor professional repairs. A beautiful antique and modest only in price, $3300.
